Even the freezing temperatures outside Houston’s Bayou Music Center couldn’t quell the heat between ODD EYE CIRCLE and their fans at the Volume Up World Tour. The three-member K-Pop girl group unit under Modhaus consists of Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry, who are also part of the project group ARTMS, had fans clamoring with excitement and unaware of the unique experience headed their way. Unlike most groups who perform together for years before members decide to branch off, the members of ODD EYE CIRCLE debuted individually, each releasing a solo single before eventually coming together as ODD EYE CIRCLE. This individuality among members was present in more ways than one throughout the show, highlighting each girl’s specific charm and making their group stages more impactful.

The crowd was given a perfect introduction to each member with three solo stages and two duo stages before the girls joined together as ODD EYE CIRCLE in the show’s sixth stage. The show started with Kim Lip’s solo, “Eclipse,” a song marked by sultry vocals and seductive dance moves. The stage was illuminated a bright red, setting the tone that left fans breathless.

Fans’ introduction to JinSoul left little to be desired. With her fiery red hair and impressive skills with a pole, “Singing in the Rain” was a sight to behold. The heavy base would have been overpowering for someone with weaker vocals, but JinSoul pulled it off perfectly, proving herself to be a powerful vocalist with an edge to her.

It’s not hard to guess which member sang the third solo, “Love Cherry Motion,” but fans still eagerly chanted her name as Choerry took the stage for her energetic performance. The perfect song for the trio’s youngest member, “Love Cherry Motion'' was upbeat and fresh. On a cold, midwinter day, the performance gave fans the feeling of an endless summer.

The girls gave us a glimpse of what they could do together when Kim Lip and JinSoul paired up for their ballad, “Love Letter,” and when JinSoul and Choerry mirrored each other’s dance moves for their cool dance track, “Puzzle.” However, the real magic happened when the three girls finally performed their first stage as ODD EYE CIRCLE with their track “Uncover.”

Fans would not stop cheering as the girls put on the performance their solo stages were leading up to. “Uncover” and “Chaotic” were back-to-back bops, with both songs showcasing each girl’s unique talents along with their ability to create something special together. Kim Lip and JinSoul introduced the songs with their smooth vocals and Choerry brought a youthful levity to them once the choruses started.

Fans were buzzing with joy when the girls started their second round of solo stages, a series of covers chosen by fans before the tour started. While Kim Lip’s cover of “Water” by Tyla got the most hype both online and during the show, fans were also obsessed with JinSoul’s cover of SZA’s “Kill Bill'' and Choerry’s cover of “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa.

The girls followed those stages up with their first speeches addressing their fans. None of them spoke English, but they had a translator to help convey their feelings of gratitude and excitement at getting to see their Houston fans for the first time in a while. They used this time to talk about their upcoming activities both as a trio and as a full group with ARTMS, promising they would come back together. Choerry cheerfully pointed out the many fans yelling “We love you, Choerry” before and after all of her songs and how much it meant for her to hear them. No language barrier could keep them from expressing their love for their fans.

The second half of the concert showcased ODD EYE CIRCLE in a variety of styles and sounds. Songs like “LOONATIC” and “Air Force One” were bright and poppy, debuting a playful side of the group that was seen more in Choerry’s solos than their group stages. Meanwhile, Kim Lip’s style was ever-present in “Starlight” and “Je Ne Sais Quoi,” two tracks that showed off the girls’ more sultry side. However, it’s not a true ODD EYE CIRCLE performance without JinSoul’s edge, which was felt in their more experimental songs like “Love Me Like” and “Sweet Crazy Love.”

Coming towards the end of the show, the girls sadly announced that there was only one last song left in the show, but if fans cheered loudly enough, the girls promised to come back for a little something extra. True to their word, fans got back in their seats as the girls left the stage, but their voices never wavered. Every fan in the building was screaming their lungs out, blasting the members’ names, chanting “ODD EYE CIRCLE,” or just making any noise that would get the girls’ attention.

The members came back for an encore full of melodic vocals, hand hearts, and smiles. Donning the tour’s official t-shirt, the girls walked over to the front of the stage to take gifts and phones from fans. Some of the members would even hold two phones at a time, taking selfies or recording themselves singing for fans. By the time the three-song encore was over, every person in the room felt loved. The show ended with the trio, hand in hand, waving goodbye to each side of the stage before leaving fans with a night to remember.
