mimiirose Reflects the Gen-Z Style of Love and Life With Their Second Single Album ‘LIVE’
mimiirose, a recently debuted K-Pop girl group, made up of members YeonJae, HyoRi, YeWon, JiA, and YunJu, is one of the newest girl groups on the block. True to their unique group name, the girls showcase a unique artistry with their songs. mimiirose debuted on September 16, 2022, with their debut single album Awesome and title track “Rose.” Coming up on their one-year debut anniversary, mimiirose made a stunning comeback on September 14, 2023, with their second single album LIVE, consisting of the title track “FLIRTING”, along with “TIPSY” and “A-OK.”

“FLIRTING” is a reggae-based moombahton and pop-driven song about real love transcending the current generation's materialistic and plastic world. It goes beyond the realistic flirting that the MZ generation is familiar with. The musicality of “FlLIRTING” brings out the vibrancy in the song.
With “TIPSY,” the group premieres their rapping skills. The song takes the idea of “FLIRTING” a notch ahead and speaks about the absolute notion that a person is bound to fall in love with the protagonist as if they are drunk on love. The third and final track on this single album, “A-OK,” is a message of hope and strength to the listeners. It encourages the listeners to look for new love and not be stuck in the past. The refreshing vibes echo the energy of the youth in this fun dance-pop number.
In an exclusive chat with HALSUG, mimiirose shared their thoughts on the comeback, bringing LIVE to life, and a message for their fans.
How do you feel about the release and reception of your second single album, LIVE?
YEONJAE: We showed a completely different side of ourselves. This time we played villains, which is a stark contrast compared to our first album which had a refreshing concept. And many people seemed to like it a lot. It seems like our international fans particularly enjoyed "FLIRTING," and "A-OK," while "TIPSY" seemed to be more popular domestically!
HYORI: It was better than we expected. We were a bit worried because we thought that the songs were quite experimental. Since we understood that the process and the results are two separate things, we tried to create our own style of music this time and have no regrets. Thankfully, many people around us told us that they liked the songs. However, we still would like more people to recognize our music.
JIA: Talking about "FLIRTING" specifically, it seems like people are enjoying it and finding it very interesting! Maybe because it is a type of song that hasn't been heard recently. It is a charming and addictive song which you cannot forget, so I hope many people will love it.
What or who served as your inspiration for this album?
HYORI: I was directed to sing in a jazzy way during our recording. I did multiple recordings for this song and found that it sounded better when I sang after listening to jazz songs. So I made myself a jazz playlist and listened to it, which was very helpful.
YEWON: The biggest challenge we had was the significantly different concept that we were trying compared to our first album. Whenever I face this kind of challenges, our bloomiis, who support and encourage us, are my inspiration.
JIA: Because we had a villain concept, I think I got my inspiration from female villain characters from the movies. I watched movies like "Ocean's 8," which has strong female figures, and some of Harley Quinn clips for a reference on how I should use the baseball bat.
What would you like to tell bloomiis? Do you have any special message for them?
YEONJAE: I appreciate all the love you gave mimiirose's music during this promotional period. I always think of how to return the love that bloomiis have given us. I will continue to work hard to bring you better music and stages in the future.
