K-Pop Boy Group 82Major Gets Candid About Their Debut

82MAJOR is one of the latest boy groups to debut in the second half of 2023. 82MAJOR is also Great M Entertainment’s first K-Pop boy group comprised of Nam Seong Mo, Park Seok Joon, Yoon Ye Chan, Cho Seong Il, Hwang Seong Bin, and Kim Do Gyun.
The sextet released their debut single album “ON” on October 11, 2023. The single album consists of two tracks: “Sure Thing” and “FIRST CLASS.” Members Nam Seong Mo and Hwang Seong Bin participated in writing the lyrics for “Sure Thing,” and Yoon Ye Chan joined them in writing “FIRST CLASS.”
“Sure Thing” is an upbeat track bustling with hope and excitement of meeting their fans in the future. “FIRST CLASS” exudes confidence and the promise of reliance on each other to reach new levels of success as a group. Sonically, both these tracks are diverse and establish a strong sense of versatility in the group. “Sure Thing” employs a fluid pop beat rendition, whereas “FIRST CLASS” plays off of a rad, hip-hop composition.
HALSUG attended the roundtable interview of 82MAJOR and got the chance to speak to the boys regarding their debut. The boys were pumped to meet with writers from all over the globe and talk about their endeavors. The time was delightfully spent with their engaging reactions and enthusiasm. After your debut, what has changed in your life personally?
Nam Seong Mo: “The immense love and support I received during this promotion period were completely new to me. Over the three weeks, I had the pleasure of meeting so many incredible people, making it an immensely interesting and enjoyable experience.”
Park Seon Joon: “To me, it is my first time to receive so many letters.”
Yoon Ye Chan: “I don’t know if you guys know this but being in a dance room for 12 hours a day kinda makes a person go crazy. So when we are out here and when we are finally meeting our fans and all these new people, life just feels so much brighter! It feels so [much] lighter. [Suddenly,] there are so many new things in your life and you just feel way better. You’re like ‘Wow! Nice to meet you!’ Life just becomes way more fun.”
Which three words would you choose to describe 82MAJOR to someone who is listening to your music for the first time?
Hwang Seong Bin: “Powerful, energetic, and amazing.”
Kim Do Gyun: “Confidence.”
Park Seon Joon: “O.M.G.”
Yoon Ye Chan: “Definitely ‘confidence’.”
