From Nashville, Tennessee, Dela Kay was immersed in a musical household that sparked her passion for storytelling through music. While studying at The Chicago College of Performing Arts at the Theatre Conservatory of Roosevelt University, she experienced creative growth but felt a compelling return to her roots, drawn back to the art of crafting personal and emotive songs.

Her songwriting career began in 2014 when she collaborated with Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, Femke Weidema. Two years later, in 2016, she debuted with her single “9 out of 10.” Since then, she has continued to release singles and gained thousands of streams.

Released in 2019 through Sony Music, Dela’s single “All My Love” ended up charting at number 49 on the top 150 global artist charts for Digital Radio Tracker along with top ten for the Top Independent Charts.

Think of You” shortly followed, and it became her highest-streamed song to date with over 800k streams and counting.

After Dela’s brief hiatus, she came back with “The Worst Part,” a new and more alternative sound in 2021.

Inspired by The Maine, Maggie Lindemann, Paramore, and Avril Lavgine, Dela Kay stays true to her alternative roots, creating authentic and edgy music. Following the success of her previous single “Let You Down,” with over 125k streams and a place on Shazam’s Best New Music Apple Playlist, she continues to explore the complex dynamics of modern relationships, showcasing her ability to resonate with listeners on a deep, emotional level.

“IDWTAY” is a modern dating anthem delving into the complexities of situationships, capturing the relatable struggles of attempting to move forward while still yearning for a past flame.

This powerful track embodies the essence of moving on but still giving way to the toxicity, making it the go-to song for navigating the delicate balance between letting go and holding onto lingering emotions. This is a girl power anthem with a mix of fun, sexiness, and upbeat aggression.
