cignature’s 5th EP ‘Sweetie but Saltie’ Evokes Summer Love

Summer has just begun and you’ll want to spend it with cignature as they’ll have you dancing all season long! The seven-member K-Pop girl group, currently promoting as six, made their comeback with their 5th EP Sweetie but Saltie on June 10, 2024. Although BELLE is absent during promotions due to her promotions in the project girl group UNIS, the remaining six members ensure that their fans, signfans, still have a fun and fresh experience with this new release. The EP includes four new songs perfect for summertime.
The title track “풍덩 (Poongdung)” takes center on the album capturing the breezy, carefree spirit of summer while conveying the raw, fearless emotions of falling in love without hesitation. The light melodies yet vibrant energy transports signfans to a sunny joyful place. The combination of summer vibes and love lyrics makes the track resonate with the experience of embracing new romantic feelings.
The group's leader, CHAESOL, compares this title track to “Smooth Sailing,” their previous summer release. “Smooth Sailing” talks about a girl who is excited for her first love or crush. “Our new title track sings the story of a more mature girl falling deeply in love as if she’s diving into love with a splash or poongdung. We hope to showcase a mature, improved version of cignature with this song, so please keep your eyes on our activities!”
“I like I Like” stands out with its two distinct versions, each offering a different experience. Speaking about the English version, SELINE says, “Sharing a song that will allow us to connect deeper with global signfans is very meaningful." The track digs into the desire of affirmation in love, even when such feelings are evident to others. The Korean version highlights the sweet, innocent aspect of realizing one’s first love. Compared to the English version, it takes on a more relaxed conversational style, with modified lyrics to evoke the image of sharing heartfelt emotions with friends, all while preserving the core sentiment of the Korean arrangement.
As a deeply personal track, “Melody” is where cignature opens up about their journey. Through its touching lyrics, the group reflects on their past, contemplates the present, and looks forward to the future all while bracing their sincere dedication to their musical craft.
