cignature Releases 4th EP, ‘Us in the Summer’

Missing the carefree vibes of summer already? Well, you can count on cignature to let those vibrant moments live on. Chaesol, Jeewon, Seline, Chloe, Semi, and Dohee are back in the music scene with their 4th EP, Us in the Summer. Released on August 29, the comeback features the nostalgic and youthful title track, “Smooth Sailing,” where the group muses giddily over their crushes. Despite Belle’s absence due to her participation in the upcoming survival show, Universe Ticket, the remaining six members still put on a refreshing vocal showcase with four catchy additions to their discography.

“Smooth Sailing” illustrates every summer break at its core. School’s out and dog days are in, welcoming cignature into a small-town whirlwind of fun from the comfort of their phone screens and secret hideouts. The EP’s title track, “Smooth Sailing,” introduces fans to a thrilling summer fling that, though possibly temporary, creates memories to last a lifetime. The city pop number continues to gain traction, garnering over a million views in 2 days.

In addition, “Smooth Sailing” highlights the girls’ bubbly personalities with upbeat choreography. Though mostly carefree and laid-back, the song closes with a festive final chorus. It ushers in the heartfelt narratives of yearning and acceptance encompassing the entire EP.

With over 4,000 copies sold upon its release, Us in the Summer marks cignature’s highest first-day sales yet. The album curates a sincere display of emotions, energy, and declarations of love in all forms. cignature first navigates a relationship’s ups and downs in “Mess With My Mind.” Shortly after, they find themselves tongue-tied in fondness and infatuation with “Smooth Sailing” and “Sorry So Sorry.” Finally, the group comes home to their inner children in “Little Me,” a love letter to the past that pulls the curtain on their summer escapade. After all, the warmth of self-discovery makes the rush of a fleeting romance worth it.

Dreamy melodies aside, relatable storytelling makes Us in the Summer a gem in cignature’s craft. They’ve come a long way since their dynamic debut, “Nun Nu Nan Na,” in 2020. It’s no surprise that their music has branched out from girl crush bops to genre-fluid tracks and delicate instrumentals.

Don’t just take our word for it, though! The cignature members themselves also hold their latest EP to a high regard.

Specifically, Seline reckons that fans will enjoy the album more than expected. She focuses on the feelings the group attaches to their coming-of-age experiences saying, “...We expressed a lot more with our feelings than before, but we didn’t miss the refreshing feeling, so please listen to the album a lot!

Likewise, Chaesol ponders on what the EP means to cignature’s passion and dedication as idols. “More than anything, we will show the best stage by thinking of the fans who love us now and the fans who will love us in the future.” Though summer is typically reminiscent of momentary connections that aren’t meant to last, it’s touching that the group is here to stay for their long-time and new fans alike.

Sure enough, Us in the Summer is more than just a staple for every vacation playlist. It’s a simple yet feel-good album for all seasons, with slices of life, light, and love in every listen.

Save the EP in your library or as a keepsake to immortalize those sun-kissed and stress-free days, no matter the weather — available now on all streaming platforms.
