Japanese rock band [Alexandros] was formed in 2001. After they graduated from school, the members started working but continued to play in bands. To develop their music career further, they began living together.

Building their career by performing in various live houses and busking on the streets, [Alexandros] eventually debuted in 2010 with “city” under RX-RECORDS, a Japanese indie label established by UK.PROJECT. Though their journey was lengthy, it strengthened their unity and solidified their identity as a band.

The band currently consists of Yoohei Kawakami (vocals, guitar), Hiroyuki Isobe (bass), Masaki Shirai (guitar), and Ib Riad (drums).

Yoohei Kawakami, who writes lyrics and composes most of the band’s music, was born in Japan but grew up in Syria. The band features songs with English lyrics, reflecting their diverse influences. Each member’s unique background contributes to a distinctive sound that blends elements of UK rock, Japanese influences, and other eclectic elements, creating a truly original sound.

In 2014, they signed a global partnership contract with Universal Music, marking their major debut. One of their goals as a band is to headline the Glastonbury Festival. They embarked on their US tour in 2018 and followed it up with an Asia tour in 2019. While they have yet to perform in Europe, their international presence has been steadily growing. This is evidenced by their most popular song “Wataridori,” released in 2014, which has garnered over 170 million views on YouTube.

2024 marks the 15th anniversary of their debut. While they may not be headlining Glastonbury just yet, they're well on their way to achieving that milestone. They released “SINGLE 1,” their first single release since they unveiled “Rock the World/Hibi, Oriori” over two years ago. All of the members made a cameo in the music video.

At the same time, they announced their concert tour 「SINGLE 1 TOUR」 in Japan to celebrate their latest release. Furthermore, they will organize an outdoor music festival “THIS FES” in Sagamihara in October, which is the hometown of Yoohei Kawakami and Masaki Shirai.
