Young Miko Fires Up Denver with Color & Spice
On a hot July 31, Puerto Rican sensation Young Miko stopped in Denver to spice things up even more on one of her stops on her XOXO Tour. Known for her rapping skills, Young Miko’s music career has skyrocketed just in the past three years. From hustling as a tattoo artist in Puerto Rico to pay for studio time, to selling out venues on her North American tour, the Latin-music popstar has gained a following rightfully deserved.
With eager anticipation, fans lined up outside the Fillmore Auditorium hours before the show, scaling the entire block twice, excited to see Young Miko in person. Many show-goers wore street-fashion-inspired outfits to match Young Miko’s style, making the whole venue look like a fashion show. The venue was filled to the brim with fans of all ages, proving Young Miko’s following to be strong and her music made for all kinds of audiences.
Displayed on the stage's backdrop was a loading screen of little hearts that would fill up as time ticked closer for Young Miko to take to the stage. As the last heart filled up, the venue went black accompanied by cheers from the crowd. “Miko” was chanted over and over until the stage lights flicked on to show Young Miko sitting on a big bed in the middle of the stage, behind a sheer curtain. Fans roared as they lay their eyes on the singer. Young Miko opened with her song “Rookie of the Year.” The song’s slower melodic intro fit perfectly with her stage presence and set concept, but slowly transitioned into faster lyrics as Young Miko lifted herself off the bed to greet her audience. With the beat drops, she danced around the stage hyping up the crowd for the night ahead.
Fans sang along to every word of songs like “Oye Ma,” “Lisa,” and “Riri.” Her infectious lyrics and dance moves created a welcoming and harmonious aura in the auditorium making fans sing and dance along with high spirits. Young Miko’s stage consisted of many live sets and colorful backgrounds. Fun animated images played throughout the night, each song having its own vibrant graphics. For her song “en la pichi interlude,” Young Miko sat against a faux log surrounded by flowers and grass while a digital tree with pink blossoms floating in the wind illuminated the stage. Young Miko’s visual concepts flawlessly matched her new album att. making her tour visually and conceptually appealing and refined.
Throughout the night, Young Miko took time to connect with her fans and express her gratitude. Her setlist was curated with songs from her new album like “offline,” “curita,” and “tres tristes tragos,” all consisting of different vibes and unique melodies. With each song, fans were consistently excited to hear what came next. The crowd sang along to every song and showed their unwavering support of the Latin artist.
