VANNER’s TAEHWAN and GON Get Candid About Their Christmas Special Single
K-Pop group VANNER’s TAEHWAN and GON released their Christmas special single “All I Want For Christmas Is You” on December 16, 2023. The song is a remake of Mariah Carey’s hit song of the same name. It features TAEHWAN’s smooth vocals with GON’s original rap verses. Following the song’s release the duo spoke to HALSUG about their single, inspiration, and shared a message to VVS (VANNER’s fandom)!
First of all, congrats on your song! What did you enjoy most about creating this remake?
GON: The most interesting thing was that the five of us had always been together making an album. But this time it was only the two of us.
There are quite a few popular Christmas songs, what inspired you to pick Mariah Carey’s hit song “All I Want For Christmas Is You”?
TAEHWAN: We had sung ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ before our debut, and we chose this song because we wanted to present the song officially.
What do you enjoy most about the Christmas holiday season?
TAEHWAN: I think the best part is that we can make time to make special memories with our beloved VVS.
Do you have any special holiday or New Year traditions that you like to do?
TAEHWAN: I have a habit of going through my photo gallery and reminiscing [about] the past year.
GON: At the stroke of midnight at the end of the year, I talk with my parents about how we felt about the year and discuss plans for the next year.
Which songs does your Christmas playlist usually include?
TAEHWAN: Frozen OST, ‘Into The Unknown.’ And also our remake version of ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ would be on my playlist.
GON: Ariana Grande’s ‘Santa Tell Me’ and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You.’
You recently released your debut Japanese digital single and also completed your Japan tour. Do you have any plans or goals for the 2024 new year?
GON: I hope to make new memories with VVS through various music and activities in 2024.
Reflecting on your 2023 year, which was filled with many great accomplishments, what was your favorite memory or moment from this year?
GON: A lot of amazing things have happened this year, one of them would be when we won ‘Peak Time’ and our new album coming out after a year and six months of break.
Do you have any messages for VVS?
TAEHWAN: Thank you to the fans who have waited for us and hope to see you guys often with great songs and good promotions. Thank you for the love and support, and let’s stay healthy together. I really love you all!
