SEVENTEEN Makes History as the First K-Pop Act to Perform on Disney’s Magical Christmas Day Parade
Global K-Pop icons SEVENTEEN, celebrated for their electrifying performances and innovative artistry, brought their signature energy to The Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade, making history as the first K-Pop act to grace the annual event.
Known for redefining what it means to be a self-producing idol group, SEVENTEEN has been a trailblazer in the K-Pop industry since their debut on May 26, 2015 under PLEDIS Entertainment. Their first extended play, 17 Carat, was a breakthrough success, becoming the longest-charting K-Pop album in the U.S. that year and earning a spot on Billboard's list of the "10 Best K-Pop Albums of 2015."
The 13-member group—composed of S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, MINGYU, DK, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, and DINO—is formed to represent the unique structure: 13 members, divided into three specialized units (hip-hop, vocal, and performance), coming together as one unified group. This formula highlights both their individuality and their exceptional teamwork.
On December 25, SEVENTEEN lit up Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort, Florida, with a spirited performance of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Against a backdrop of sparkling holiday decorations, the group delivered smooth vocals, playful choreography, and infectious joy, captivating both the live audience and viewers at home. Adding to the festive cheer, the broadcast showcased the band enjoying the Slinky Dog Dash roller coaster, their laughter and excitement perfectly capturing the holiday spirit.
2024 has been a monumental year for SEVENTEEN, solidifying their position as one of the most influential names in the global music scene. The group broke new ground in the festival circuit, becoming the first K-Pop act to perform at the legendary Glastonbury Festival and headline Lollapalooza Berlin.
SEVENTEEN’s influence extended beyond music when they were named UNESCO’s first-ever Goodwill Ambassador for Youth, highlighting their dedication to empowering and inspiring young people worldwide.
On the charts, SEVENTEEN achieved their 10th No. 1 album on the Billboard World Albums chart with their 12th mini album, SPILL THE FEELS, continuing their streak of chart-topping releases. Their accomplishments were further recognized at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards where they won the coveted “Best Group” award. Adding to this, their 10th mini album, FML, sold over 6.4 million copies globally, making it the year’s best-selling album according to IFPI (the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry).
SEVENTEEN’s Disney appearance was their second holiday-themed performance this year. Earlier in December, they performed “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” during The Wonderful World of Disney: Holiday Spectacular, set against the stunning backdrop of the Millennium Falcon at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
With their groundbreaking performances, record-breaking achievements, and unwavering connection to their fans, CARATs, SEVENTEEN continues to set new standards for success in the music industry. Their holiday performances mark the culmination of a year filled with milestones and signal an exciting future as the group looks ahead to 2025.
