SCANDAL Earned the Title “Longest Running Female Rock Band”
After 17 years, J-Rock Band SCANDAL earns a Guinness World Record as “the longest-running female rock band.”
SCANDAL is one of the most popular female J-Rock bands formed in 2006 by students belonging to a dance and vocal school in Osaka, Japan. At that time, they were junior and senior high school students.
The group is composed of TOMOMI (bass guitarist), MAMI (guitarist), HARUNA (rhythm guitarist, vocalist), and RINA (drummer). Although they each play their own instruments, they have all become vocalists as well.

Their first gig was held at Namba Hatch, and they earned their Guinness Record on the same stage–during their 17th Formation Anniversary just last August 21 of this year.
Being the second largest city in Japan, Osaka has one of the biggest concert halls, Osakajo Hall. The group’s first goal was to perform there, and the dream came true in 2013. It was just after five years into their debut.
They also have a lot of experience performing in Europe, the US, and APAC countries as well. Alongside tours, SCANDAL has also released songs that have been featured as anime theme songs. These experiences are allowing them to build a presence felt all over the world.
Excitingly, SCANDAL is also the first Japanese musician who signed an endorsement contract with the leading guitar company Fender. They released their own signature models in 2017.

Their 3rd single “Shoujo S” and 12th single “HARUKAZE” is the theme song of BLEACH.
Their 5th single “Shunkan Sentimental” is the theme song of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Their 19th single “Yoake no ryuseigun” is the ending theme song of Pokemon Za Mūbī Ekkusu Wai "Hakai no Mayu to Dianshī."
And their latest (29th) single “Highlights no Naka de Boku ha Zutto” is now available for streaming.
