ONE PACT Seizes the ‘Moment’ with its Debut Mini Album

Five contenders of Mnet's popular reality competition, Boys Planet, came together to form the group ONE PACT. Consisting of members JONGWOO, JAY CHANG, SEONGMIN, TAG, and YEDAM, these K-Pop idols just debuted on November 30, 2023, with their mini album Moment.
Engineered by ARMADA Entertainment, the group is supported by the company’s CEO Kangnam. Kangnam, a Japanese-Korean singer, is a former member of the disbanded group M.I.B and the husband of retired Olympic speed skater, Lee Sang-hwa.
The group’s name, ONE PACT, is a combination of the words ‘one’ and ‘impact,’ signifying the group’s desire to create a huge impact with their music. During their pre-debut period, ONE PACT successfully held its first fan concert, THE PACT, in Japan on November 17, 2023. The concert gathered a large crowd, solidifying hope and success for the group's debut.
The EP consists of six songs across diverse genres. The title track “좋겠다 (Must Be Nice)” delves into a narrative of unwavering devotion, portraying the lengths one would go to satisfy a self-absorbed partner. It poignantly highlights the allure of having such a presence in one's life. This EDM-supported track sounds quite vocally polished for a debut.
Mixed with fast and slow tempos, “RUSH IN 2 U,” is a romantic number where members wait and yearn for love. “Hot Stuff” (멋진 거) is a rap-heavy song, whereas “G.O.A.T” is a high-energy dance track. Ahead of their debut, the group released performance videos for both songs that have cumulatively garnered 1.06 million views on YouTube alone.
The song “Loading” (진행중) is a soft track where members try to convey their love through everything they can do for the one they love. ‘진행중’ was the name of the original demo file that was sent to the company and was ultimately kept. Lastly, in the track “Illusion,” members resist the advances from someone moving at them recklessly, saying they are in an illusion that they will be loved by the members.
The group’s main rapper, TAG, took on the responsibility of album production. He assisted with songwriting and composition for five out of six songs on the album. With a hopeful outlook, TAG talks about their debut as he mentions: “It feels quite surreal to begin a new journey for me. I look forward to ONE PACT’s growth and the journey I’ll be on with the members. Thank you to all the fans who have been supporting and waiting for us, and we promise to show better sides of us every day! I hope you stay healthy, and we’ll prepare for stages that will make everyone happy. Thank you!”
Promising to showcase the best to their fans, lead vocalist and youngest member Yedam added, “I was very nervous because everything was a new experience for me. I was excited as well because it was our new beginning, and I wanted to do my best for the fans who had been waiting for us. Thanks to our fans’ dedication and support, we can debut as a cool team named ONE PACT, and I’m very happy about it. I’ll show various sides as ONE PACT’s Yedam, thank you.”
