LOAR Articulates the Feelings of Being at a Loss of Words in “Too Hard To Say”

Japanese R&B singer LOAR is back with new music after almost a year. The artist last released the songs “Cause I’m With You” and “Arinomamanofutari” back in 2022. Expanding his musical portfolio, he also created Japanese covers of songs like “E.T.A.” by Justin Bieber and “No Guidance” by Chris Brown, luring listeners intrigued by his artistry.

Too Hard To Say” marks LOAR’s first song of 2023. He sings in Japanese but sprinkles phrases in English. The reverb that echoes with the vocals, paired with LOAR’s deep vocals, gives a unique experience to the listener. LOAR’s songs are synonymous with an echo-like feel to the verses, especially the chorus. We find a similar pattern in this song as well. It won’t be wrong to say that the song also sports some strains of a ballad. That, paired with R&B, presents an indulgent musical experience for fans of both genres.

LOAR once again collaborated with producer FOFU who has been a long time producer for the artist’s songs. The music video was released on July 31.

In the music video, we see LOAR moving about lush green spaces in warmed toned frames. Model Asuka Kan joins him in the visual storytelling as he sings about feelings of love that he couldn’t convey in due time. The song is accentuated with atmospheric music, underlining the feelings of regret and sadness. LOAR sticks to a lower register when belting out the lyrics, further highlighting the emotions.

Clad in a brown jacket and in a white outfit, it won’t be wrong to assume that even his costume reflects not only the heartache, but also a journey towards acceptance of the events. The natural imagery induces a sense of calm and composure when watching the music video.

LOAR, when he last spoke to HALSUG back in December 2022, mentioned that he intends to release an EP by 2023. If “Too Hard To Say” is the start of his EP, we can’t wait to listen to the rest of the songs that he is bound to release this year.
