JUNNY The "blanc" Tour at Le National, Montreal

On Friday, September 16th, Korean-Canadian artist JUNNY took the stage at Le National in Montreal, the final stop on the artist’s 11 city North American “blanc” tour. DJ Minjeong kicked the night off with a set that got the crowd moving all the way up to show time. Playing dance mixes of both Korean and Western hits, it was the perfect build up for what was to come for the rest of the night. JUNNY finally took the stage, opening his set with “Color Me”, a fan favorite from his album also titled “blanc”. The room echoed as Junniverse, the name for JUNNY’s fandom, sang aloud without missing a single word.

Singing tracks off the new album and past releases, fans were finally able to experience the music live. A moment that was long overdue. From serenading the crowd with the sultry track "Say", to getting the entire room hype with "Zone", JUNNY kept everyone on their toes.

With fan service through the roof, JUNNY continuously engaged with the audience; reaching for phones to record videos, take pictures, and even tossing his white towel into the crowd for a fan to snag. Some memorable moments included a Canadian flag full of signatures and messages written by Junniverse making its way to the stage, to which JUNNY took the opportunity to wrap it around his neck and briefly used it as a cape. With the help of DJ Minjeong, both held up the flag to face the crowd as JUNNY sang “Thank You”, a song dedicated to his loyal fans that have shown endless love and support throughout his career. Bouquets of flowers were also given to the singer, another token of appreciation that we’re sure he would never forget.

JUNNY’s natural stage presence and charisma kept the energy in the room high. Whether he stopped to sing to a specific section or talked about his love for Montreal, JUNNY connected with the crowd from start to finish. As each song ended, the realization would soon set in for both JUNNY and Junniverse that the show was coming to an end and the tour was officially wrapped. JUNNY closed the show with an encore performance of “Color Me”, reminding fans of the excitement they instantly felt at the start of the show. The perfect way to wrap up the night.

It is worth mentioning that after spending a significant amount of time performing on stage, JUNNY went on to take a good 15-20 minutes after the show to sign autographs for Junniverse. Phone cases, hoodies, albums, you name it. One lucky fan even walked away with the set list that was once taped to the stage.

Although this is the end of the “blanc” tour, we can only wait (impatiently) for him to hit the road again. Until then, make sure to stream “blanc”, which is available now on all major streaming platforms.
