Indie Singer Hanbyeol Returns with “몽환 (Wish)” — a Bright Summery Song

Summer calls for dreamy song numbers to set the mood just right. While one may want to listen to some fresh new ballads, some go for R&B and maybe some pop jams too. Those who wish for a breezy summery track just got their wish granted by South Korean indie singer-songwriter Hanbyeol.

On May 24, Hanbyeol shared her latest single “ 몽환 (Wish),” a release that chronicles yesteryear divas’ vibrant energy while asking oneself if what the world thinks of them truly matters. We have been blessed with some memorable songstresses and actresses in the past who have been pivotal in shaping the entertainment industry and common women folk’s lives. Their journey has been a constant source of inspiration, a lesson on resilience and a token of appreciation.

“몽환 (Wish)” is a soothing ballad with pop sprinkled all over it. Hanbyeol’s vocals are buttery smooth as she channels powerful energy and delivers a mesmerizing performance. The song sends a message of hope to its listeners while assuring them it is okay to trust oneself and truly be happy.

Hanbyeol was recently seen on Girls on Fire, a female vocal survival program on JTBC. “몽환 (Wish)” is her second release of 2024 following “Sweet Dreamz” which was released in January. Since her 2020 appearance on MBS’ survival show CAP-TEEN, Hanbyeol has gained recognition for her vocals and retro charm.

She officially debuted in 2021 with the song “Spotlight,” which was soon followed by “Whispering.” In addition to releasing original songs, Hanbyeol enjoys covering songs from artists like SZA and The Weekend, of which her covers have been released on her YouTube channel.
