GEMINI Had LA Trippin’ On His Love
On Wednesday, March 22, South Korean R&B artist, rapper, and producer GEMINI performed at 1720 in Los Angeles for his 6th stop on the Still Blue Tour. GEMINI has been on his 10-city North American tour, performing amazing shows in other big cities like Atlanta and New York.
Fans lined up outside of 1720 and even got to see GEMINI get out of his car, where he waved to them and headed into the venue before the show. Shortly after, GEMINI had a meet and greet with fans and then went backstage to get ready for the show to start. Eventually, the rest of his fans eagerly made their way inside to get a perfect spot near the stage.
CLUB BOYBND, artist duo Justin Trash and Roc Lee performed their first LA show as the opening act. Artist and producer Jonum DJ’d a little before and during CLUB BOYBND's opening set. CLUB BOYBND started with a bang by performing “kiss me thru the phone,” they then went on to perform their recently released single “like this” and some unreleased music as well. During one of the songs, the crowd turned on their flashlights, creating a sea of lights. Additionally, CLUB BOYBND surprisingly brought out their friend’s swimcoach and semmi to perform too.
CLUB BOYBND’s opening act was filled with cheers and laughter. At one point, the mic was cutting in and out, but that didn’t stop CLUB BOYBND because it ended up creating a funny moment where Trash and Lee brought laughter from the crowd. Trash also told the crowd about what it was like meeting GEMINI for the first time, which brought cheers, laughter, and nodding in agreement from fans as Trash said, “That boy is f****** sexy.” After, Trash asked the crowd to make some noise if they were there for GEMINI, and the crowd of fans responded with screams and cheers.
DJ Fallens continued getting the crowd hyped up and ready for GEMINI after CLUB BOYBND’s set. Fallens played some sick beats that had the crowd dancing and singing along. Some of the mixes that Fallens played included songs like “Boys a liar Pt. 2” by PinkPantheress and Ice Spice, as well as “YUPPIE TING” and “Malibu” by pH-1 featuring The Quiett and Mokyo.
As Fallens’s set neared the end, GEMINI appeared in the doorway behind the stage. Only seeing GEMINI’s silhouette in the darkness of the venue, he patiently waited. When 9:00 p.m. hit, Fallens played “Love Is Banned,” and fans started cheering as they knew that GEMINI was just about to come out in less than 10 seconds. GEMINI finally appeared on stage, coming in from the left side, and the venue roared with screams. The fans right away started singing along with him as he sang into the mic.
GEMINI performed past singles and songs from his albums Inside Out and Still Blue. During GEMINI’s performance of “Rollercoaster,” he got the crowd hopping as he jumped on stage with the beat of the song. He threw water at the crowd during the chorus bringing on more screams and cheers. The performance for the outro part of “Hola” had everyone waving their arms left to right. Not to mention, as GEMINI performed “Naked,” with one hand holding the mic and the other unbuttoning his top, fans started oohing and cheering even more.
Throughout his entire show, GEMINI looked like he had a great time as he had a smile on and danced all night. GEMINI also interacted with fans by taking photos and videos on fans' phones. He also completed fans' hand hearts, held a fan’s hand that reached out to him, and signed a photo that a fan handed to him.
He slowed everything down later in the show by ending his performance with “a place we used to go.” Fans in the crowd and Fallens took out their phones and turned on their flashlights to wave left and right, creating a beautiful scene to witness. He ended the show by thanking his fans for coming out and leaving the stage. Fans soon chanted “encore, encore, encore,” and “Broken Love” started playing through the speakers as the stage lights started flashing. GEMINI then came back onto the stage to perform an encore. To finish the night off, GEMINI and Fallens took a picture with the crowd while holding a flag that fans had signed with written messages on it.
After performing in LA for the first time, he traveled to Houston, San Francisco, and Seattle and ended his North American tour in Vancouver. HALSUG was grateful to have the opportunity to cover GEMINI’s first North American tour in 3 different states across the US. The shift from hearing GEMINI’s music through headphones at home to experiencing his soft vocals and the beat of his music live gave fans much energy. It was an experience they surely will not forget.
