Feeling ‘Like The First Time’ with Jimmy Brown and Rovv in Los Angeles

November 13 finally arrived. Fans eagerly waited in line outside of 1720 in Los Angeles for the much-anticipated Like The First Time North American Tour of Korean R&B artist Jimmy Brown with hip-hop artist Rovv

The exciting night commenced with a lineup of three talented openers. DON FVBIO set the stage performing his songs with guests like Donny Daydream performing “MADE TO BE,” Flannel Albert performing “BE YO MANZ,” and REDDY performing “DS4N.” DON FVBIO relished the stage by dancing and radiating infectious energy to the crowd, who moved along with his hip-hop (trap R&B) tracks.

Jessica Domingo graced the stage with her melodic tunes, vivid visuals, and guitar playing against the warmth of magenta-orange lighting, setting a serene ambiance. Domingo slowed down the energy as she created an intimate and calming atmosphere with her songs "After Midnight," "Honey Skies," and “Island.” Her performance was a testament to both her vocal range and ability to immerse the crowd with her soulful R&B songs.

Lastly, damnboy! came out performing “Burn,” and his raw authenticity shone through as he delved into themes of mental health with tracks like “Must Be Nice!.” He then performed "She / Her / Hers" followed by an unreleased song. His emotionally charged performance deeply resonated with the audience as he delivered a powerful message through his vibrant vocals.

Just before Jimmy and Rovv took the stage,  Jin.K, the music producer behind several of Jimmy and Rovv’s tracks, including the fan favorite “ecstasy” and the entirety of Like The First Time,” treated the audience to his DJ set. He played remixes of LE SSERAFIM’s “Eve, Psyche & The Bluebeard’s Wife,” “R.I.P” by Kid Milli featuring B.I, and “Motley Crew” by Post Malone which had the crowd clapping and jumping, especially when the beats dropped.

Each artist brought a unique energy of R&B, hip-hop, and soul, preparing the audience for what was to come.

The moment everyone waited for had arrived. Jin.k played the track "23" and the guitarist, ampoff, started to strum the guitar — Rovv exploded onto the stage amidst the flashing lights. Launching into the adrenaline-pumping track, Rovv immersed the crowd and ampoff continued the energy, breaking into an electrifying guitar solo.

Rovv went on to perform his next song "Smokin’," leaving fans swaying back and forth to the beat. After Rovv greeted the crowd, he delivered his signature phrase: “I Rovv you!” Reciprocating the love and appreciation Rovv felt, the fans chanted back his signature phrase. Throughout the night, he would continue expressing his appreciation by repeatedly yelling his signature phrase, to which fans echoed back, louder each time.

And finally, with a beaming smile, the atmosphere peaked when Jimmy walked up the ramp from backstage. With phones in hand, the crowd peered up to watch as the R&B singer serenaded the night by singing the higher notes of “between your thighs interlude.” “What’s good LA?,” Jimmy asked as he ended the song and started his set on stage. Fans responded in the crowd with roaring cheers welcoming him to LA for the first time. Jimmy proceeded with "kiss my lips," and to no surprise, the crowd went crazy.

During his performance of “steam,” Jimmy closed the distance between the stage and his fans, reaching out to touch their hands, creating a special connection for each fan and igniting the crowd's screams. Immersed in his singing, fans sang back to him during the part “Love is steam steam.” With fans cheering thunderously at his incredibly high notes and Jimmy’s efforts to connect with fans, it’s evident he’s captivated the entire audience.

Rovv returned to the stage to sing their collaborated songs. The duo's collaboration was seamless as they performed their newest song off of their album "Like The First Time" and popular hits like "On My D," “101,” and “ecstasy.” Throughout the concert, Jimmy would turn the microphone towards fans to sing, granting them a quick duet and an unforgettable interaction. In the midst of Jimmy and Rovv’s collaborative stages, they each basked in the spotlight for the night once more, singing crowd favorites from each artist’s discography. Rovv went on to showcase his slower tracks like "Too Late" and "Chance."

Jimmy's rendition of "Irene," one of the biggest hits he has written, left the crowd spellbound, with phones held high to capture the magic. Jimmy and Rovv engaged in a friendly competition to determine the loudest side of the crowd. Rovv playfully covered his ears and smiled, emphasizing the overwhelming loudness as the outburst of screams echoed and filled the entire venue.

Beyond the music, the artists connected intimately with their fans. Jimmy and Rovv interacted, sharing hand hearts and smiles with fans — Jimmy even gave a lucky fan a rose. Acknowledging the electric energy pulsating within the venue, Jimmy mentioned that it was a different energy here in LA.

The evening culminated in a heartwarming scene as Jimmy and Rovv returned to the stage, graciously signing memorabilia (i.e., crutches, phone cases, IDs, arms, shoes, and more) and posing for pictures, leaving a lasting impression of their genuine appreciation for their fans.

The Like The First Time Tour stop in LA was an electrifying blend of musical talent, heartfelt performances, genuine artist-to-fan connections, and immense amounts of fun just as they had hoped. The fun doesn’t end here for Jimmy, Rovv, and their crew as they continue to tour in Australia and New Zealand in December, followed by Europe in January.
