[Exclusive]: JUNNY announces the release of his new single “Not About You (ENG Ver.)”

On December 1st, the Korean-Canadian singer-songwriter JUNNY, will release his new single “Not About You (ENG Ver.).” This is a new version of the title track “Not About You” from his debut studio album “blanc.” JUNNY recently completed his first-ever North American tour, named after his album. Following the success of The “blanc” Tour, which included 11 stops in the U.S. and Canada, he decided to release this new version as a thank you to the fans.
HALSUG was invited to attend JUNNY’s pre-release listening party, where we exclusively listened to “Not About You (ENG Ver.)” and had a chat with him about the single, his emotions, and more!

Originally, the title track "Not About You" was written and recorded in English; however, he ended up releasing it in Korean instead. JUNNY mentioned how most of his songwriting is done in English, and usually, those songs don’t see the light of day. But, the original version of his upcoming release proves otherwise.

Compared to his previous work, JUNNY shared something new he noticed about himself when it came to writing "Not About You." "I learned to let my past emotions take control in order for me to naturally write this song without a single exaggeration." This attitude led JUNNY to also believe he's more "emotionally connected to this song and why [he's] that much proud of how it turned out."
Lastly, JUNNY was asked about some changes he'd like to see in the music industry. As recent digital trends aim to capture shorter attention spans, JUNNY noted that "everything must be short and straight to the point" these days. However, the "slow build-up of emotions behind a 4-5 minute song," he says, “[is] worth the extra time listening."
“Not About You (ENG Ver.)” will be released on all streaming platforms on December 1, 2022 Thursday 2pm KST.
