“Easy”: A Gentle Pop Track by SHAUN, a Reflection on Heartbreak

As you head deep into the night on a midnight drive or lay on your bed pondering on the past, the lonely yet yearning voice of SHAUN breezes through the air. Captivating listeners through an easy-going pop single, on February 29, the noteworthy K-R&B singer-songwriter, producer, and DJ SHAUN released “Easy,” opening doors to new music in 2024.

Three months after the release of SHAUN’s “That Summer,” a song that carried a touch of nostalgia for a past relationship, a love that still lingers, “Easy” takes the emotion further and delves into the feeling of being stuck in the same place, unable to move on after a breakup.

SHAUN employs soft instrumentals in “Easy,” highlighting the delicate nature of emotions being conveyed in the song. Finger snaps in the chorus and a steady strum of guitars paired with a smooth blend of R&B completes the track as SHAUN sings, “I wish it was easy, but you’re still on my mind/Throw out the memories of you being mine/If you’re completely over us, then that’s fine/But how could it be easy?”

When it comes to K-R&B, the conversation is incomplete without mentioning SHAUN. SHAUN is one of the most prominent names in the Korean music industry — not to mention, the wide range of genres (e.g. electronic, rock, dance) found in his discography is a testament to this claim. After finding newfound success in 2019 with “Way Back Home,” having gone viral on social media, he further cemented his success with tracks like “Bad Habits” and “Steal the Show (with Jeff Satur).”

“Please give a lot of love for my new single, "Easy." I will continue making good music and working hard in 2024.”
