Indie Artist Diya Maeve Sings About Unrequited Love in Her New Single “Jupiter’s Moon”

Today, HALSUG brings to you a hidden gem from India—rookie indie artist Diya Maeve. The 21-year-old singer-songwriter from Mumbai is an independent indie artist loved for her soulful voice and alluring prose writing.
Born into a musical family, Maeve began training in Indian Classical music. At 14, she discovered her passion for songwriting and hence, gravitated toward Western music, posting covers on YouTube. She has been influenced by artists like Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, Lana Del Rey, Ed Sheeran, and Coldplay the most. She tells stories through her one-of-a-kind sound by combining intricate, heartfelt lyrics with entrancing melodies. She wants her songs to be what other artists’ songs have been to her: "A warm hug of love and understanding."

Maeve has just released her much-awaited single “Jupiter’s Moon” on April 21, 2023. The 2nd single off her upcoming EP comes after her fourth single, “Me, You, & the Stars.” Maeve’s 5th single, "Jupiter’s Moon," is a Pop, Indie-Pop, and Indie Alternative-based track narrating the emotions of longing and hope when one finds oneself deep in love. The artist likes to highlight certain sentiments in her music that one finds hard to word, making her songs relatable. She writes her songs in English because she wants her music to be heard by many people worldwide.
With her heartfelt voice, the singer-songwriter dedicates her new single to the patience and hope of one-sided love. The title "Jupiter’s Moon" is what inspired the song. "It is used as a metaphor for a different dimension, where one seems to be transported to, and nothing else matters, when they are with a special someone," describes the singer. The song’s lyrics allow one to "explore the surreal and otherworldly feeling of being in love and wondering if the other person feels the same way."

Maeve’s upcoming EP tells a candid story about “love.” The first chapter was narrated by her previous single, "Me, You, & the Stars," in which she expressed the fruity feeling of finding yourself falling in love by framing the lyrics in the form of an unconcealed love letter. This is followed by an inkling of unrequited love. And so, "Jupiter’s Moon" is the second chapter where one tries to word the many little details that justify their passion, wishing it reaches the other person. The singer also wants her listeners to know that. "Though the lyrics seem to be very detailed and mention little things, the story as a whole in the song isn’t exclusive to just a single person’s experience. Instead, I think almost everyone will find it relatable in their own ways."
