CHANMINA Announces Her First Overseas Concert Tour
CHANMINA, a trilingual rapper fluent in Japanese, Korean, and English, is the daughter of a Japanese father and a Korean mother. She writes lyrics, composes music, and produces herself as well. In 2016, she participated in a rap contest for high school students and soon after, she began releasing tracks as an independent artist. Quickly gaining attention, she made a major debut at just eighteen years old.

One of her captivating aspects lies in her live performances. Her song “Bijin(美人)” was created from her struggles with lookism and an inferiority complex about her appearance. In Japanese, “Bijin(美人)” translates to “pretty girl.” During a performance at Yokohama Arena, she removed her makeup during the interlude in front of more than 15,000 people. She chose this way to tell her fans that they are as beautiful as diamonds without any makeup, encouraging her fans to embrace their natural beauty and pursue their goals without fear. Having faced discrimination upon being on TV after the competition, this performance served as her manifesto to stand up to any discrimination and be a beacon of support to people who have experienced similar challenges.
Her social circle spans various fields, and occasionally, she collaborates with her diverse group of friends. In the music video for “Tokyo 4AM,” a lot of Japanese celebrities were featured including Awich, SKY-HI, and Taka (ONE OK ROCK).
Her friend circle not only consists of Japanese individuals but also includes her long-time favorite singer, Taeyeon from the K-Pop girl group Girl's Generation, who chose CHANMINA for her first collaboration in Japan.
One of her dreams was to make her debut in Korea, given her Korean heritage. Last year, she pursued this dream and collaborated with a rising Korean rapper ASH ISLAND for her first Korean song, “Don’t go.”
She announced her first overseas solo concert tour, which will be held in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan — a dream come true for her. In a world where barriers like gender, lookism, nationality, and racism persist, this tour symbolizes her giant leap to dismantling them. Through her artistry, she aims to become a global icon to express the importance of diversity.
