BTS V Makes a Stunning Comeback with “Winter Ahead”
The winter season is incomplete without a smooth jazzy rendition from BTS’s V. This baritone vocalist has been consistently delivering heartwarming ballads just in time as the trees change their coats. This winter, BTS V has dropped a stunning number once again. The track “Winter Ahead” is further enhanced by the presence of Park Hyo Shin, complementing V’s deep voice. “Winter Ahead” was released on November 29, 2024.
“Winter Ahead” is a track with layered meaning. The song starts with a smooth and jazzy saxophone section, and V soon joins the melody. His voice is soft, deep, and husky, capturing the listeners’ attention from the get-go. Park Hyo Shin joins in the next verse and both their voices blend effortlessly.
The music video for “Winter Ahead” interprets the Greek myth of Pygmalion. We see V as a talented sculptor who crafts the perfect partner for himself. He is transported into a fantasy world where he is a tender lover, the life of the party, living in the perfect paradise. As the video concludes, V wakes up from his fantasy and comes face to face with his nightmare. His nightmare is himself, a harsh reality that he tried so hard to evade. Without the music video, one would assume that the song is just another winter ballad, but the music video lends a deeper meaning to the song.
