With raw honesty and a vibrant sonic palette, rising pop sensation Paris recently released her highly anticipated new single, Never Let Myself.” Inspired by personal experiences, the track is a heartfelt examination of modern relationships, self-awareness, and the hidden barriers that often prevent deeper connections.

At just 20 years old, Paris is a rising star originally from San Francisco, California. Immersed in music from a young age, she found her calling in songwriting during middle school and further honed her craft throughout high school. Paris’s background in music composition and production shines in her ability to create songs that resonate deeply while pushing the boundaries of contemporary pop.

Drawing from influences like Tate McRae, Gracie Abrams, and Kenya Grace, “Never Let Myself” pairs deeply introspective lyrics with the energetic cadence of electronic pop. The result is a song that feels both intimate and electrifying, bridging vulnerability with rhythm and emotion.

“I wrote this song to say, I am acknowledging that I might have some trust issues,” Paris shares. “The lack of resolution in the lyrics mirrors the frustration of recognizing a problem but not knowing how to fix it yet.”

The song begins with an arresting refrain that sets the emotional tone:

“Have it, have it, I never let myself / I’m chasing someone that gets my heart racing / Can’t not give into this craving.”

Here, Paris dives into the addictive cycle of chasing fleeting emotional highs while avoiding meaningful, lasting connections. The thrill of the chase masks the fear of vulnerability—a recurring theme throughout the song.

As the narrative unfolds, Paris delves deeper into the complexities of self-sabotage:

“Now I don’t know why / When I find something real I get the urge to hide / Scared to try / Just in case you change your mind.”

In these lines, she captures the universal fear of rejection and the protective instinct to withdraw from potential happiness. This tug-of-war between desire and fear crescendos in the chorus, where Paris confesses:

“Why don’t I wanna be happy? / Complain that it always ends badly / But when I find someone that’s good for my health / I never let myself.”

The poignant honesty of these lyrics reveals a deep inner conflict—yearning for love yet sabotaging its potential out of mistrust and self-doubt. The repetition of “I never let myself” throughout the track becomes a haunting mantra, echoing the cyclical nature of these emotions.

Musically, “Never Let Myself” is as dynamic as its lyrical depth. Rooted in liquid drum and bass and infused with an atmospheric pop soundscape, the track delivers an emotional release that’s both cathartic and danceable. Paris credits her recording team at Green Line Records (GLR) for bringing her vision to life during a month-and-a-half creative journey.

“The entire process took about a month and a half, and I couldn’t have done it without my incredible team,” Paris explains. “Never Let Myself” invites listeners into a space of reflection, urging them to confront their own patterns and embrace vulnerability as a strength rather than a weakness.
