BADVILLAIN “ZOOM” Into Their First Comeback

Debuting in June 2024, girl group BADVILLAIN is the first original group from their company, BPM Entertainment. Their debut mini-album OVERSTEP featured three songs, and they released their follow-up track “HURRICANE” a few weeks later. With each track, BADVILLAIN has established a signature hip-hop and dance-driven sound, earning recognition as standout performers in the industry. Now, they return with their first comeback single “ZOOM.”
As the title suggests, “ZOOM” is a hyper, upbeat hip-hop-style song that is instantly catchy and enjoyable. Similar to their past releases, the members sing about going through whatever life gives them with their girls by their side. This expression of strong female friendships has become a recurring theme among hip-hop-focused girl groups in the K-Pop scene, but it is always fun to sing along with.
At first listen, the chorus might seem overly repetitive, but the lyrics are wordplay between the mix of Korean and English. While “ZOOM” serves as the English title of the track, the Korean title is “솜,” meaning “breath.” The first lyric of the chorus is “숨 돌려 숨,”—which translates to “breath, catch your breath,” but when sung, it sounds very similar to the next line of the chorus “zoom, gotta zoom.” With the fast-paced beat of the instrumental, the use of “솜” and “zoom” throughout the song fits the vibe perfectly.
As fans have come to expect from the group, the choreography for this song is dynamic and fun to watch. With the members' past experiences in various dance programs and groups, it’s no surprise that they embody the confidence, prowess, and style it takes to do this dance. In a video released just after the song dropped, the girls show off their talents and chemistry with each other as they perform the track.
While they currently have only five songs in their discography, BADVILLAIN has quickly created a name for themselves. Fans are patiently waiting for their next album release, and we can’t wait to see what they do in the future!
