L.A.’s Moroccan Lounge slowly but surely filled with fans. They were welcomed to the night by Maya Kuriel, who opened with an energetic set. She brought the audience through her own music, and a cover of “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” (originally sung by Ariana Grande). Maya is a singer and songwriter who specializes in engaging lyrics and catchy melodies. She created an atmosphere for the audience to feel comfortable in their own selves, and left the stage with new fans.

After Maya, SAAY entered and opened the night singing “Talk 2 Me Nice” and “OVERZONE” with a sultry tone. SAAY sauntered out on the stage and drew the audience in with her intimate vocals. Her fans cheered and welcomed her with their applause. As she introduced herself, SAAY made a point to look toward the back of the room and interact with each section. She had fun playing a “follow the leader” type cheer where she would say, “Hey!” and change her tone that the audience would mimic. The audience was completely taken over by SAAY’s voice as she performed “CIRCLE” (her debut as a soloist), “DOMINO,” and “OMEGA.”

SAAY stayed on stage the whole time without anyone joining her. Her ability to hold the audience in her presence was impressive, and is a testament to her ten years in the music industry. She was comfortable on the stage and the audience seemed to press in as the night went on. From the back of the room, people started to unconsciously edge forward towards the stage, drawn in by SAAY’s intoxicating tone and allure.

The whole night was filled with SAAY’s unique tone and R&B style. She sang the runs in her songs with ease and flipped from her high to mid range effortlessly. Every ear was tuned to her original sound and when she left the stage, everyone wanted more from her. For those who were in the room, they left with an even greater respect for SAAY and her contribution to the music world.
